NF1 - NEW FEATURES
* Microsoft Windows XP Support - QuickClean v2.0 will
launch with support for the next generation operating
system, Windows XP. Windows XP represents Microsoft's
combined platform for the 9.x/ Me and NT/ 2000
machines. All operating systems currently supported
in QuickClean will continue to be supported.
* New User Interface - QuickClean's new interface
is now simpler than ever to use.
* Instant Updater
QuickClean includes a new mechanism used to register
and update your McAfee product.
* Improved Internet Cleaning - QuickClean v2.0
improves the ability to remove data that is no
longer used or needed and items that users want
to keep completely private.
* Improved Shredding Capabilities - QuickClean
allows users to shred data they choose to delete
to ensure it remains private. QuickClean offers
the choice of using the shredder embedded within
the cleaning feature or using a stand-alone
shredder. This assures that selected data is
completely wiped from the system.
* Application Remnant Cleaner - Although some
applications have their own uninstall programs,
remnants are usually left behind in the system.
ARC ensures that all remaining files and folders
are removed for a thoroughly clean PC.
* Folder Browser - This QuickClean feature helps users
analyze the contents of their hard drive. Use this feature
to identify folders owned by applications that are
candidates for removal or compression.
* Customizable File Cleanup List - Users can create
a customizable list of files that they want to clean
periodically. This includes MP3 files that possibly
didn't get completely downloaded the first time and
other files that are deemed non-critical.
* Improved Configuration Assistant - Users do not
need to be experts to customize QuickClean. The
Configuration Assistant makes set-up quick and easy.
Once installed, the Configuration Assistant walks
the user through a succession of easy-to-understand
questions and auto-configures itself based user
responses. This ensures only the desired features
are activated.

DC1 - DOCUMENTATION
McAfee Consumer Products Division provides
each of its products with an extensive set of
documentation, consisting usually of one or
more product guides saved in Adobe Acrobat
Portable Document Format (.PDF), and an online
help system, whose form can vary, depending on
the platform on which the product runs.
Acrobat .PDF files are flexible online documents
that contain hyperlinks, outlines and other aids
for easy navigation and information retrieval.
You can also install an Acrobat plug-in file
that allows you to read .PDF documents from
within your web browser while online. Copies
of the product documentation come with the
product CD-ROM.
A copy of the free Acrobat Reader also comes
with the product CD-ROM or is available from
the Adobe web site at:
http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html
Most McAfee Consumer products can include a
documentation set drawn from these components:
NOTE: Not all products will include all listed
documents. Consult the User's Guide or
Administrator's Guide that comes with
your product for a complete list.
* A printed Getting Started Guide, which
introduces the product, provides
installation instructions, outlines product
features, and provides a brief overview. In
many cases, an electronic version of this
guide will also be available on the product
CD-ROM or from McAfee Consumer Products
Division FTP site in Adobe Acrobat .PDF format.
* A User's Guide saved on the product CD-ROM or
installed on your hard disk in Adobe Acrobat
.PDF format. McAfee Consumer Products Division
User's Guides document all product functions
extensively, and discuss how best to use your
McAfee software product to accomplish your
tasks.
* Specialized guides. These can include
reference guides, deployment guides,
configuration guides, vulnerability guides
for intrusion detection software, and other
product-specific documentation.
* An online help system. Online help gives you
quick access to hints and tips about how to
use your McAfee software. The format of the
online help system for the product will vary,
depending on which platform or operating
system you use to run your McAfee product.
In most cases, the software will display a
Help menu item or link that you can use to
start the system.
* Some products might also include context-
sensitive online help. Right-click buttons,
lists or other elements within dialog boxes
to see brief, descriptive help topics.
* A LICENSE.TXT file. This file outlines the
terms of your license to use your Networks
Associates product. Read it carefully. If
you install a McAfee Consumer Products
Division product, you agree to the license
terms.
* This file contains last-minute additions or
changes to the documentation, lists any
known behavior or other issues with the
product release, and often describes new
product features incorporated into incremental
product updates.
To ask about eligibility for updates, upgrades,
registration, or for general questions related to

IN1 - INSTALLATION
To install McAfee QuickClean:
1. If your computer runs Windows NT Workstation v4.0,
Windows 2000 Professional, or Windows XP, log on to
your system as a user with administrative rights.
You must have administrative rights to install
this software on your system.
2. Insert the McAfee QuickClean CD into your computerÆs
CD-ROM drive. If the Autorun installation menu does
not automatically display, go to Step 3.
Otherwise, skip to Step 4.
3. Use the following procedure if the Autorun installation
menu does not display, or, if you obtained your software
via download at a McAfee web site.
a. From the Windows Start menu, select Run.
The Run dialog box displays
b. Type <X>:\SETUP.EXE in the Run dialog text box,
and click OK.
Here, <X> represents the drive letter for your CD-ROM drive or
the path to the folder that contains your extracted QuickClean
files. To search for the correct files on your hard disk or
CD-ROM, click Browse.
4. Before proceeding with the installation, Setup first
checks to see whether your computer is already running
the Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) utility running
as part of your system software.
a. If your computer runs Windows XP, Windows Me, or
Windows 2000, MSI already exists on your system. If
your computer runs an earlier Windows release, you may
still have MSI in your computer if you previously
installed other software that uses MSI. In either of
these cases, Setup will display its first wizard
panel immediately. Skip to Step 5 to continue.
b. If Setup does not find MSI or an earlier version
of MSI is installed in your computer, it installs
files necessary to continue the installation, then
prompts you to restart your computer. Click Restart
System. When your computer restarts, Setup will
continue from where it left off.
5. Refer to steps displayed on the Installation Wizard
to complete your installation.

message, exit setup and remove unnecessary files from your
computer. Re-start Setup. Perform these steps as necessary
until you do not receive an insufficient drive space message."
